Who Can Drive It

Driver Requirements

Four rules that apply to everybody on the booking, and one that only applies under a certain age.

  1. The minimum age is 21

Every driver on the booking has to be 21 or over. There is no under-21 booking on any channel — not online, not on the phone, and not at the counter.

  2. Every driver is named

Anybody who is going to sit behind the wheel goes on the agreement before they drive it, with their own licence checked the same way yours is. Somebody who is not on it is not covered.

  3. The card is in the renter’s name

The person the booking is under is the person whose card pays for it. That is the one thing that most often stops a hand-over, and it is the easiest to sort out beforehand.

  4. Serving, veteran or neither

We are veteran owned and we serve the San Antonio and JBSA community, but nothing on this page asks you to prove it. A military ID is welcome as photo identification; it is not a requirement and it is not a substitute for a licence.

Licence & Identification

Which Licence Works, and Which Needs a Word First

Most licences need nothing arranged at all. Two of the four below are worth a sentence when you book rather than a conversation at the hand-over.

Texas licence
Bring it
A current Texas licence is all we need. Nothing else to arrange and nothing to send ahead.
Out-of-state licence
Bring it
Any current licence issued by another US state or territory works the same way as a Texas one. PCS orders move people faster than licences follow, and that is fine.
Licence issued outside the US
Tell us first
Say so when you book and we will confirm exactly what we need from you before you travel, rather than at the hand-over. We would rather answer it in an email than at a kerb.
Expired, temporary or paper
Tell us first
An expired licence is not a licence, so that one is settled. A temporary or paper licence is worth a call before you book — we will tell you either way and it takes a minute.

Every driver is checked the same way, and every driver has to be on the agreement before they take the wheel. If somebody is joining the trip halfway through, ring us and we will add them — it takes a minute and it is the difference between covered and not.

Insurance & Coverage

Find Your Own Situation, Then Read One Row

You need verifiable comprehensive and collision coverage that transfers to a rental vehicle. What that means for you depends entirely on what you are already carrying, so this is written the way you would actually ask it.

  • A personal auto policy with comprehensive and collision

Check with your insurer that it transfers to a rental vehicle — that is the part that matters, and it is a two-minute call. Bring the details and you are set.

  • A liability-only policy

    Cover offered

Liability alone does not meet the requirement. CDW and SLI cover is offered when you reserve, and it is quoted with the booking rather than added at the hand-over.

  • No personal policy at all

    Cover offered

Plenty of people renting here do not have one — a PCS, a first posting, a car that went in the container. CDW and SLI cover is offered at reservation and it is the whole answer.

  • Cover through a credit card

Some cards include rental cover as a card benefit when the rental is paid with that card. It is worth checking what yours actually covers before you decline anything, because the wording varies a lot.

CDW and SLI cover is offered when you make the reservation, and what it costs is quoted with the booking rather than published here — it moves with the class and the length of the rental. Ask for it at the point you book and it is settled before anything is charged.

Deposit & Payment

What Is Held, and When You Get It Back

A refundable deposit of $250 to $400 applies to every rental, set by the vehicle class. Here it is in the order it actually happens.

  1. What we take

Visa, Mastercard, American Express and Discover, and debit on the same deposit. It has to be in the name the booking is under.

  2. How much is held

$250 to $400, refundable, set by the vehicle class — a truck holds more of your balance than an economy car does.

  3. When it goes on

At the hand-over, against the card on the booking. You will know the exact figure for your class while you are booking, not when you are standing next to the vehicle.

  4. When it comes back

Released once the vehicle is back with us in good order. Your bank then takes its own time to show it, which is a matter between you and them rather than something we hold.

The exact figure for the class you are booking is confirmed with you while you book. We do not publish a deposit per class, because what we can state honestly is the range and what moves it — and a table of six numbers where only two are settled would be four guesses wearing a border.

Fuel & Mileage

What Driving It Actually Costs

Two things sit outside the rate. Neither is complicated and neither arrives as a surprise at the end.

Fuel

Bring it back at the level it left at

Note the gauge at the hand-over and match it when it goes back. No pre-purchase, no fuel package, and nothing to opt out of.

Mileage

$0.50 to $1.50 per mile over the allowance

The daily allowance moves with the vehicle class, and it is confirmed with you against your dates before the booking is final. If you are planning a long run, say so when you book — it is a much better conversation before the keys than after them.

Keeping it for a week or a month changes how the mileage is worked out, and that is a conversation rather than a table — the terms are agreed against your actual dates. Long-term & weekly rentals →

Delivery, Pickup & Return

Four Ways to Get the Keys

Three of them have a fixed figure and the fourth is quoted before you commit. Whichever you pick, it goes back the same way it came.

  • From our office

    Free

Collect from 11103 San Pedro Ave inside opening hours. Nothing travels but you.

  • SAT airport

    Free, both ways

We meet you at the San Antonio International Airport long-term parking garage and take it back there at the end. There is no airport surcharge on top.

    24 hours’ notice

  • On base

    $50 round trip

One figure for the vehicle out and back, to the community at any of the 5 installations we serve.

    24 hours’ notice

  • Home, hotel or work

    Quoted with your booking

Worked out from distance and the pickup time, and you get the figure before you commit rather than at the kerb. Anywhere in the city we serve, an address is an address.

Pickup and return hours

Monday to Friday
7:00 AM to 5:30 PM
Saturday
8:00 AM to 1:00 PM

Closed

Outside those hours

An after-hours drop-off is available on request. Ask when you book and we will arrange it with you then — the hour it goes back is agreed while the booking is being made, not worked out afterwards. If your dates shift once you have it, ring us and we will move the return with them.

Where the vehicle goes back is settled the same way. It does not have to come back the way it went out — a delivery can be collected and a collection can be dropped — but it does have to be agreed in advance rather than decided on the day.

Cancellations & Changes

If the Plan Moves, Ring Us First

Most changes cost nothing at all — it is only a cancellation that runs on a clock. Both are set out here rather than buried in an agreement you sign at the kerb.

Cancelling

48 hours or more before pickup
Full refund
24 to 48 hours before pickup
Partial refund
Under 24 hours, including same day
No refund

A booking made for today sits in the bottom row from the moment it is confirmed, which is why we check the vehicle is actually free before anybody commits to it rather than afterwards.

Changing it instead

Ring as soon as you know. Changes run on what is free at the time, and moving the dates or the class can move the price — we requote it with you before anything is confirmed.

  • the dates and how long you keep it
  • the vehicle class
  • where you collect it and where it goes back
  • who else is driving

Running late is a phone call, not a penalty table. The hour it goes back is agreed while you book — including when that falls outside our opening hours — and if it slips, tell us and we will re-agree it. (210) 606-1384

Vehicle Care & Prohibited Use

Four Things, and Then It Is Yours

Short, and none of it is unusual. Everything not listed here is simply driving the car.

Smoking
Smoking is not allowed in any vehicle, and that covers cigarettes, cigars and vaping alikea vehicle returned with smoke on it — smell, ash or a burn — carries a cleaning charge to put it right for the next renter.
Where you drive it
Our vehicles are for paved roads. Off-road and unpaved driving is not alloweddamage caused off the pavement is charged to the renter, and it can put the cover you are driving on out of scope.
Tolls and tickets
Tolls and citations picked up during your rental are the renter’s to pay — the toll for the road you used, the ticket for where it was parked.
How it comes back
Back in the condition it went out in, minus the milesordinary wear is ours to deal with and always has been — the deposit is released once it is back with us in good order.

Anything that is not on this list is not a rule we are keeping quiet about. If you are about to do something with the vehicle and you are not sure — a long haul, a load, a trip that leaves the state — ask before you set off rather than after. It is a two-minute call and it is always cheaper than the alternative.

In Plain Words

The Same Terms, Asked the Way People Ask Them

Everything here is settled somewhere above. This is the version you would get if you rang up and asked.

None of these ends in “ask us” — all five are answered in full. If yours is not one of them, the general FAQ has thirty-six more.

All frequently asked questions →
Can I smoke in the vehicle?

No — not in any of them, and that covers cigarettes, cigars and vaping alike. A vehicle that comes back with smoke on it, whether that is the smell, ash or a burn, carries a cleaning charge to put it right for whoever has it next. It is the one rule on this page that costs nothing to keep and is expensive to break.

Who pays a toll or a parking ticket?

You do, for anything picked up while the vehicle is with you — the toll for the road you used, the ticket for where it was parked. Neither is a charge we add for our own sake; they are passed through as they reach us. If one arrives after you have handed the vehicle back, we will get in touch about it rather than take it off a card silently.

Can I change my booking after it is made?

Yes. Ring us as soon as you know — the dates, how long you keep it, the vehicle class, where you collect it and where it goes back, and who else is driving are all changeable. Changes run on what is actually free at the time, and moving the dates or the class can move the price, so we requote it with you before anything is confirmed rather than afterwards.

Is the deposit the same on every vehicle?

No, it is set by the vehicle class — a truck holds more of your balance than an economy car does. The range runs $250 to $400, it is refundable, and the exact figure for the class you are booking is confirmed with you while you book rather than at the hand-over. It is released once the vehicle is back with us in good order.

Can I drive it on unpaved roads?

No. Our vehicles are for paved roads, and off-road or unpaved driving is not allowed on any class — including the trucks and the SUVs, which is where the question usually comes from. Damage caused off the pavement is charged to the renter, and it can put the cover you are driving on out of scope, which is the more expensive half of that sentence.

Book It

Nothing on this page arrives at the hand-over

The class, the deposit, the delivery and any fee that applies to you are all confirmed while you book. If one of the terms above sits close to a line for you, ask now rather than at the kerb — that is what the phone is for.
