Young Driver Rentals · San Antonio

We Rent to Drivers at 18, Not as an Exception

The standard minimum age here is 21, and we take drivers of 18 to 20 when you book directly with us. Being younger is a conversation, not a refusal — and it is one worth having before you book rather than at the counter.

What This Is

The Same Fleet. A Lower Starting Age.

There is no young driver fleet, no young driver counter and no separate booking route. There is one rental business with an age policy that begins earlier than most, and a page saying so out loud because the question is worth answering before you waste an afternoon on it.

At most counters in San Antonio the conversation ends at 21. Here the standard minimum is 21 as well — and drivers of 18 to 20 are accepted when the booking comes directly to us rather than through a marketplace. That is the whole of the difference, and it is why booking direct matters on this one.

What it does not mean is that you find out at the hand-over. Your age goes on the booking, we confirm the class and the deposit against it, and nothing is charged until all of that is settled with you.

Who This Is For

Old Enough to Be Sent. Too Young to Rent.

This city sends people places before it will rent them a car to get there. These are the six situations that walk into that gap most often.

  1. Junior enlisted and first-term

Old enough to be posted anywhere and, at most counters in this city, too young to rent the car that gets you there.

  2. Students and trainees

Tech school, university and a course that finishes on a Friday you have to be somewhere else by.

  3. First-time renters

Nobody is born knowing how a deposit hold works, and asking should not cost you the booking.

  4. Temporary duty and training

Orders that put a young driver in an unfamiliar city with somewhere to be at zero six hundred.

  5. Arriving on a PCS

A household on the move and a driver in it who is under the age most agencies will rent to.

  6. Families booking for someone younger

A parent or a sponsor arranging it, with the driver themselves named on the agreement.

Requirements & Eligibility

What Changes, and What Does Not

Most of renting a car is the same at any age. This is the short list of what is not, set out before you book rather than discovered at the hand-over.

Your age
The standard minimum is 21.
We take drivers of 18 to 20 when the booking is made directly with us, which is not true at most counters in this city.
Your licence
Current, in date, and on you at the hand-over rather than in a bag in the boot.
The same licence, and we check it the same way. Tell us if yours was issued outside the United States so we can confirm what else to bring.
The card
Visa, Mastercard, American Express and Discover, and it has to be in your own name.
That one catches people out here more than anywhere else — a parent can arrange the booking, but the card and the licence have to match the driver.
The deposit
From $250 on a credit card and a $300 minimum on a debit card, refundable, released within 3 to 7 business days of the vehicle coming back in good order.
It also moves with the class you pick, so we confirm the figure for your vehicle before you commit to it.
Insurance
Worth two minutes with your insurer first — many personal auto policies extend some cover to a rental, and some cards include it when you pay with that card.
What is needed on your booking is confirmed with you before it is final, so ask before you drive rather than at the hand-over.
The vehicle
You reserve a class rather than a specific car.
Which classes are open to you is confirmed before you commit to one — say your age when you book and we will settle it then.

The full terms live in one place

Age tiers, deposits, accepted cards, mileage, fuel and cancellation are set out on the requirements page rather than summarised differently on five service pages. If anything on your booking sits close to a line, ask before you book rather than at the hand-over — that is what the phone is for.

Which Vehicles

You Reserve a Class, Not a Car

The same six classes everyone else books from. Which of them are open to you is confirmed with us before you commit to one, so tell us your age while you are choosing rather than after.

Two things worth knowing before you pick

The bigger the vehicle, the bigger the hold
The deposit starts at $250 on a credit card and moves upward with the class, so a truck or a van ties up more of your balance for the length of the rental than an economy car does. We confirm the exact figure for your class before you commit to it.
Say what has to fit, not which car you want
How many people, how much luggage and how far you are going narrow it down faster than a model name does — and it is how we settle which classes are available to you at the same time.

How It Works

Settle the Question, Then Book

Four steps, and the first one is the only one that is different from anybody else's booking.

  1. Step 1 of 4:

    Check what applies to you

Two minutes on the band above, or ask us. Nothing after this is worth doing until you know the answer is yes.

  2. Step 2 of 4:

    Choose your vehicle and dates

Pick the class that fits the job and tell us your age while you are booking rather than after.

  3. Step 3 of 4:

    Confirm the booking

We settle the class, the deposit and whether you are collecting or we are delivering, all of it before anything is charged.

  4. Step 4 of 4:

    Drive off

Licence and card on you at the hand-over, and that is the whole of it.

Why Rent With Us

Six Reasons That Are Not a Discount

None of these is a price. They are the things that decide whether a booking made by somebody under twenty-one actually goes through.

Military owned and operated
Run by people who were the eighteen-year-old with orders and no way to get there.
Straightforward pricing
What the booking costs is settled with you before it is confirmed, not discovered at the counter.
Fast booking
Being under the standard age adds a conversation, not a week.
Delivery available
Useful when the reason you need a car is that you do not have one to get to us in.
A person on the phone
The age question is the one worth asking a human, and there is one to ask.
Younger drivers are not a special case
You are booking the same fleet on the same terms, with the differences set out in advance.

The Other Four

Being under the standard age does not put any of the rest out of reach — a younger driver books a delivery or an airport meet on exactly the same terms as anyone else.

The Real Questions

Asked Before You Book, Not After

The eight that come up most, including the three we cannot answer yet.

Three of these say we confirm it with you rather than giving you a figure. That is the honest state of it rather than a deflection — and it is settled before your booking is final, not at the hand-over.

All frequently asked questions →
Can I rent a car at 18?

Yes, when you book directly with us. The standard minimum age here is 21, and we accept drivers of 18 to 20 on a direct booking, which is not true at most counters in this city. Tell us your age while you are booking rather than afterwards and we will confirm the class and everything else that applies before anything is charged.

Is there an extra charge if I am under 21?

What sets the price of any booking here is the class you choose, how long you need it and whether we deliver it, and we quote all of that before you commit rather than at the counter. If anything else applies to your booking we will tell you while you are making it. Ask us directly if you want it settled before you go any further — that is a question worth putting to a person.

What do I need to bring?

A current driver’s license, on you at the hand-over rather than in a bag in the boot, and a payment card in your own name. That second one catches younger renters out more than anything else: a parent or a sponsor can arrange and pay for the booking, but the card and the licence have to match the person driving away. If yours was issued outside the United States, say so when you book so we can confirm what else to bring.

Can I use a debit card?

Yes. We take Visa, Mastercard, American Express and Discover, on credit or debit, and a debit card carries a higher security deposit than a credit card does. It still has to be in your own name. If you only have a debit card, that is not a problem here — it changes the deposit and nothing else.

How much is the deposit, and when do I get it back?

It starts at $250 on a credit card, with a $300 minimum on a debit card, and it moves upward with the vehicle class you pick. It is a refundable hold rather than a charge, and it is released within three to seven business days of the vehicle coming back in good order. We confirm the exact figure for your class before you commit to it.

Do I need my own insurance?

Worth two minutes with your insurer before you book, because many personal auto policies extend some cover to a rental and some cards include it as a benefit when you pay with that card. What your particular booking needs is confirmed with you before it is final, so ask us at that point rather than at the hand-over.

Which vehicles can I rent?

You reserve a class rather than a specific car, and which classes are open to you is settled with us before you commit to one. Tell us what has to fit — how many people, how much luggage, how far you are going — and we will narrow it down with you. The full range is on our fleet page.

Can you deliver it to me?

Yes, across the San Antonio area — a home, a dormitory, a hotel or a workplace. That is often the point for a younger driver, since the reason you need a vehicle may be that you have no way of getting to us to collect one. A delivery fee applies, worked out from the distance and the pickup time and quoted while you book rather than added afterwards.

Book It

Ask before you assume the answer is no

Put your age on the booking and we will confirm the class, the deposit and anything else that applies before a single thing is charged. If you would rather settle it in a sentence first, that is what the other button is for.
